Day 1,432: Thousands of Americans are dying of COVID-19 every day; Trump is signing EOs about architecture
Despite Republican rhetoric that COVID-19 would disappear from the country after the 2020 election — a claim meant to imply that it was a mere media creation — the virus is getting worse.
The COVID Tracking Project, a group monitoring numbers from across the country, is reporting data showing deaths are at an all-time high, with more than 2,600 Americans dying per day.
Republicans that previously dismissed COVID-19 and propagated lies are now jumping the line for vaccines.
Donald Trump, meanwhile, is still largely refusing to acknowledge the pandemic that has killed over 317,000 Americans. He’s spending his waning days in office living in a delusional world full of conspiracy theories, ignoring cyberattacks from Russia and, as of Monday, signing pointless executive orders about the architecture of federal buildings needing to be “beautiful” and classical.
While Americans are suffering — physically, mentally, financially — and American institutions are being attacked by modern warfare, Trump is worried about the pointiness of roofs and the style of windows on federal buildings.
