Day 947: Donald Trump must think the whole world is deaf and blind
That’s the only thing to explain his ludicrous excuse for “chosen one” remarks.
Reeling from an absolutely demented week, Donald Trump is trying to play defense in one of the dumbest ways possible.
On Wednesday, Trump bragged about being treated like the King of Israel and the “second coming.” Later, he looked to the heavens and emphatically declared himself “the chosen one.”
Saturday, Trump — while ignoring the rest of the week’s insanity — said that the “chosen one” bit was all just a joke.
“I was smiling as I looked up and around,” Trump claimed.
Except the video doesn’t back that up at all.
He’s direct.
He’s angry.
He’s loud.
He’s serious.
But he’s not smiling, having fun or being sarcastic.
For Trump’s Saturday lie to be convincing, you would have to not be able to hear his words and not be able to see his face. His tone give his away his lack of sarcasm. His face gives away that he is not serious.
Trump’s most recent words and actions reveal an especially dangerous and unhinged version of himself. His aides likely explained to him the importance of walking back some things from the past week. However, Trump couldn’t have picked a more ludicrous explanation, other than swearing he never said the words at all. (And who knows, he could break out that explanation at any moment.)
