Day 933: Trump begins 10-day vacation with golf, pretending he wasn’t pals with Jeffrey Epstein

Donald Trump is at his Bedminster resort in New Jersey, for what is expected to be a 10-day vacation. Those around him are nervous about Trump being Trump moments, as he is apt to focus on everything but work.

But aides say his attention will be focused on golf, cable news and Twitter. They often worry about the scattershot outbursts — such as his “fire and fury” to North Korea in 2017 — that can emerge when Trump escapes Washington and has more access to his friends and less to his staff.

The first day of his vacation certainly lived up to the golf, TV, Twitter mantra.

He played golf.

He watched a bunch of TV, though he claimed it was an “accident,” whatever that means.

And he was ever-strange on Twitter in other ways too. Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in federal detention center Saturday morning in an apparent suicide. Trump knew and partied with Epstein for years.

And Trump is more than just a casual friend of Epstein. Not only did they socialize, but Trump acknowledged knowing Epstein quite well. In 2002 Trump said, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he like beautiful women as much as a I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Trump has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl at one of Epstein’s parties in a sworn statement as part of a lawsuit filed in 2016.

Epstein himself was asked about Trump’s socialization with underage females at one of his parties and chose to invoke the Fifth Amendment rather than answer the question.

Saturday, however, it was like Trump pretended he wasn’t rubbing elbows with Epstein for years.

He retweeted this…

…and this:

There are a lot of questions surrounding Epstein’s death. He hung out with a lot of big names on both sides of the aisle, including Trump and Clinton. However, to retweet baseless conspiracy theories implying the Clinton family killed Epstein while he was in federal prison is crazy, especially as Trump’s own attorney general personally oversaw the case. It’s also ludicrous for Trump to pretend he wasn’t buddies with Epstein or that he gave a Cabinet position to someone, Alex Acosta, who originally handed Epstein a sweetheart plea deal.

Golf, TV and Twitter is in full force on Trump’s vacation already, and it’s unlikely to stop.
