Day 91: The GOP and Their Propaganda Arms are Imploding
Some quick-hitting snippets on Trump, Spicer, Chaffetz, O’Reilly, Jones and the GOP at-large.
Press Secretary Sean Spicer had to admit Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have gotten almost nothing done in three months. (Reminder: Republicans control the presidency, the Senate, the House of Representatives and have total control on most state governments nationwide.)
The White House got busted lying about the whereabouts of the USS Carl Vinson.
House Oversight Chair Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) — he of endless, futile Hillary/Benghazi investigation fame and constant flip floppery regarding Donald Trump — announced yesterday he will not seek re-election. Today it’s being reported that he may step down before his term is up — despite being re-elected just months ago and nothing on the surface having changed between then and now. Many have speculated nefarious reasons for Chaffetz’s decisions, but at this time his true motivations are unknown.
Borderline state-television Fox News had to can one of their biggest Donald Trump cheerleaders, Bill O’Reilly, after everyone found out — thanks to the free press — that he was sexually harassing too many women and viewers and advertisers were outraged.
Crazy right-wing nutjob, Sandy Hook denier and someone who Trump has called amazing, Alex Jones. was revealed by his attorney to be merely playing a character engaging in performance art on his bombastic show that conservatives around the country listen to and rely on for information.
Backtracking, in-fighting, confusion, lying, flip-flopping, resigning…it’s all par for the course for the GOP and right-wing commentators at this point.
Meanwhile, The Resistance continues to keep the GOP on their heels and hold Republicans accountable. Grassroots progressives remain more organized than ever, pressuring congressmen at town halls, on the phones and online and are contesting special election seats nationwide.
