Day 899: Belligerent and unintelligible Trump lambastes Fox News after fourth straight day of golf

Donald Trump visited one of his golf properties for the 203rd time in just 899 days on Sunday. It was also his 270th trip to a Trump property in that time. Staying at his property in Bedminster, New Jersey Friday through Sunday it seems Trump played each of the last four days. (He played Thursday at his property in Virginia.) Relevantly, Trump lambasted Barack Obama for Obama’s golf outings during his presidency — which are being dwarfed by Trump’s — and simultaneously promised that he would never golf if elected president.

When he got back from his 72nd hole of the week, Trump exhibited some of the bizarre, rambling and unintelligible prose he is known for. His target: Fox News. Apparently Trump didn’t find the coverage to be sycophantic enough for his taste, and implied he deserved credit for increasing Fox News viewership.

In addition to his putting, Trump is focused on cable news ratings, programming and sale prices of newspapers instead things like human rights abuses at border prison camps or potential 2020 election meddling by Russia or China. He’s ludicrously claiming that reports from The New York Times are inaccurate because the organization lost money on a business transaction.

While it’s odd to see Trump attacking a longtime ally in Fox News, his Sunday complaints line up with his frequent attacking of any media source that offers anything but effusive praise for him. Viewed through that lens, his whining was more evidence of Trump being Trump. His attention throughout his tenure has largely been focused on the strangest, lowest common denominator non-issues, and that was true again Sunday.
