Day 897: Trump blames teleprompter, rain for saying US Army seized airport a century before airplanes existed

Donald Trump suffered an embarrassing gaffe during his ego-induced July 4th event on Thursday when he claimed that the US Army seized airports during the War of 1812. The problem with that statement is the fact that powered aircraft weren’t invented until the 20th century.

To offer an explanation, he blamed the rain and claimed he was delivering portions of his speech from memory.

Notably, that doesn’t explain why Trump said airports and airplanes existed a century before they did.

In the past, Trump has been critical of others who use teleprompters.
