Day 896: Trump: US Army took over airports a century before airplanes were invented

In September 1814, soldiers at Fort McHenry raised an American flag to celebrate a significant victory over the British in the War of 1812. That act inspired Francis Scott Key to write the Star-Spangled Banner.

A century later, Wilbur and Orville Wright made aviation history in December 1903 when they made the first flight with a powered aircraft.

During his expensive ego-driven July 4th event, Donald Trump noted that the army “took over the air” and “took over the airports” during the 1814 battle.

Obviously, Trump’s version of history is impossible. More alarming, Trump didn’t seem to even have an understanding just how little sense he was making.
