Day 893: Trump focused on ‘very healthy’ looking Kim instead of sick and dying migrants in US prison camps

Donald Trump, needlessly giving away all sorts of leverage, crossed the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea and shook hands with Kim Jong-un on Sunday in what was pretty clearly a photo-op meant to stroke Trump’s ego. Of course, the White House and Fox News tried to spin the move as strategic with Trump excelling at some sort of complex game.

Except even Trump couldn’t keep that ruse going.

By acknowledging the meeting as “very well covered” rather than successful, it’s apparent that attention was the only thing Trump sought. Trump was flanked by his unqualified daughter and unqualified son-in-law with nary a State Department member in sight.

For all the bluster and photo-ops, there’s been virtually no forward movement on North Korea denuclearizing. This despite Trump vowing that Pyongyang has agreed to do so on multiple occasions and proclaiming that there is no longer a threat from the reclusive nation.

Hours later, Trump again tweeted about the meeting, referring to Kim as looking “really well and very healthy” which is such an odd way for a leader to refer to another, especially since there haven’t been any reports or rumors about Kim being ill.

All of this is merely Trump being Trump, but it’s as abnormal as ever when judged against normal people. Moreover, Trump seems extremely focused on smiling photos with authoritarians while his horrific immigration policies and border patrol agents continue running prison camps in the U.S. rife with human rights abuses.

While Trump is focused on a dictator’s health and appearance, he couldn’t care less about men, women and children who are needlessly suffering and dying due to his own cruelness.
