Day 886: Trump places economic sanctions on man who has been dead for 30 years
Donald Trump vowed to get tough with Iran after needlessly tearing up a deal that was both working and keeping Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. Apparently that meant nearly starting a war, and as of Monday, additional economic sanctions on the country and certain individuals.
One such individual that Trump wants to make sure is sanctioned is Ayatollah Khomeini.
While Khomeini will not be able to do business with the United States, that’s probably more due to the fact that he’s been dead for 30 years than anything else.
Not only did the White House tweet out the video like there’s nothing wrong with Trump’s remarks, neither Mike Pence nor Steve Mnuchin, the Vice President and Treasury Secretary respectively, had any reaction to Trump’s blunder. That means high level aides either didn’t understand the error themselves or they just didn’t care.
