Day 884: Trump denies meeting sexual assault accuser he’s literally standing next to in photo

E. Jean Carroll, a well-known and respected journalist, in a piece published in New York Magazine this week, accused Donald Trump of raping her in a dressing room in the mid-1990s.

It is an exceptionally compelling and powerful piece and worth the very difficult read.

Trump responded to the allegations on both Friday and Saturday.

“I have no idea who this woman is. This is a woman who’s also accused other men of things, as you know. It is a totally false accusation,” Trump said. “I think she was married, as I read. I have no idea who she is.”

Trump also claimed he “never met this person” in a statement on Friday.

Obviously saying that Carroll was married does absolutely nothing to negate her claim about Trump and is pure word salad avoidance.

As for his Friday claim that he never met her? Trump even glancing at the article would have caused him to issue a different denial. Because accompanying Carroll’s piece was a photo showing Trump standing next to her, along with their respective then-spouses.

Trump tried to walk back the claim that he had never met her on Saturday, but all he did was describe the picture that was published, saying, “I have my coat on. I have my wife standing next to me. And I didn’t know her husband, but he was a newscaster.”
