Despite Mexican officials continuing to claim that there is no deal beyond last week’s announced declaration between the U.S. and Mexico, Donald Trump keeps pretending that there is one. He took that assertion to extreme lengths Tuesday.

During a press gaggle, Trump swore there was an additional secret deal and as “proof” he pulled a folded piece of paper out of his jacket pocket. While no one was allowed to see the document, which may very well have been blank, Trump claimed that it actually contained the text for a deal with Mexico that he can put into effect whenever he wants.

Tuesday’s charade mirrored another one from just before his inauguration. ?In January 2017, he stood next to a stacks of manila folders, that no one was allowed to inspect, and said they contained plans to disentangle himself from his many businesses.
