Day 868: Coward Trump insults war hero Mueller in front of thousands of fallen American heroes

Thursday marked exactly 75 years since the Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy, establishing a European foothold and setting in motion the final plan to defeat Nazi Germany in World War II. There were ceremonies honoring the men who made the landing, with emphasis on those that made the ultimate sacrifice.

Those expecting Donald Trump to remain solemn on a day to honor heroes haven’t been paying attention for the past 868-plus days. During an interview with Laura Ingraham of Fox News — where else? — Trump spoke about Robert Mueller.

The substance of Trump’s comments are inane, but the location of the comments is even worse. Trump — who dodged the Vietnam draft no less than five times, including via a dubious claim of bone spurs in his feet — is insulting Mueller — who served admirably and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart during his service in Vietnam— with over 9,000 headstones of Americans killed in World War II as a literal backdrop.

Trump’s rhetoric doesn’t even make any sense. Mueller didn’t testify and certainly didn’t write any letter “to straighten out his testimony” because, again, he didn’t testify. Ingraham sits there nodding like a stooge as if Trump is spitting facts rather than fairy tales. But she’s not a journalist, she’s a cheerleader to the Trump charade.

For Trump to act as he did on the 75th anniversary of D-Day in front of American heroes alive and dead is grossly insulting, especially coming from someone who did everything possible to avoid serving.
