Day 855: Trump, who claims to hate fake news, shares fake news
In the aftermath of Donald Trump’s temper tantrum regarding Democrats exploring the lengths Trump has gone to cover-up actions and potentially crimes by obstructing justice, both he and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke to the press.
Trump was generally mocked for acting like a child and stumbling and slurring his words more than normal.
Perhaps angry about that, someone doctored footage of Pelosi during her weekly Thursday press conference. Trump shared the manipulated footage to make it appear as though Pelosi was unable to put together cogent sentences. (A similar video made the rounds on social media Wednesday that was shared by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.)
Here’s a comparison between the real video and what Trump’s fake news looks like, courtesy of CNN.
Trump knows the Pelosi video is fake. His aides know. Most of his supporters know too. Even Fox News admitted it was fake. But Trump is okay with slandering anyone and everyone as long as it scores political points with his base or makes people believe that Democrats, and not him, are incompetent.
