Day 818: Trump spent less than 20 minutes working on Wednesday

Despite a schedule overflowing with unstructured “executive time,” golf outings and vacations — in addition to a keen sense of what’s on cable news — Donald Trump loves touts how hard he’s working. A perfect example of that farce was Wednesday.

Trump’s entire schedule consisted of a brief speech at the Opportunity Zone conference at the White House.

Trump stood at or near the podium for a little over 17 minutes and he spoke for all of about 12 minutes, in a rambling speech rife with lies.

For instance, Trump claimed in the first minute:

“We’re, by far, the biggest economy in the world. We weren’t when I first came. It was heading in the wrong direction and now we’re in the right direction.”

In actuality, Trump inherited a rapidly growing economy and the U.S. has been the world’s largest economy since 1871. Trump was wrong by a mere 146 years.

The Trumpian hyperbolic adjectives were out in full force too. The man who once said, “I know words. I have the best words.” used “great” 14 times and “fantastic” and “incredible” six times each during his brief remarks.

When the event was over, it was back to executive time, television watching and tweeting.
