Day 817: Trump upset that Fox News is even trying to appear neutral

Donald Trump and Fox News have a enjoyed a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” type of relationship since Trump clinched the Republican nomination in 2016. Of the major networks, Trump has given interviews almost exclusively to Fox and frequently tweets out Fox segments that he enjoys. He apparently even rates the anchors’ loyalty.

Sponsors dropping Fox like crazy over the past few months coupled with a crowded Democratic field for the 2020 nomination have coalesced into an unorthodox pairing: Democratic town halls on Fox. Democrats want the added exposure and Fox wants ratings from a more diverse audience.

Trump is none too happy about any of it, even floating conspiracy theories about a planted audience during Bernie Sanders’ event.

We? Is Trump just openly admitting the obvious: a relationship between him and Fox?

So thin is Trump’s skin that — in a single tweet — he wanted to both thank himself and pretend that there were Trump fans (“& Signs” [sic]) outside the Sanders town hall that couldn’t get in.

With word that additional Democratic candidates are considering their own town halls on Fox, similar Trump tweets should be expected in the future, as he pressures the network to continue the symbiotic relationship with him.
