Day 814: Before and after a round of golf, Trump can’t quit Twitter madness
Donald Trump played golf for the 179th time on Saturday. He has played on a whopping 22% of his day’s in office.
But he couldn’t resist the pull of Twitter to send crazy missives both before and after his round.
Before:
Trump’s floating a third summit with a murderous dictator after the first two failed miserably is bizarre. Claiming a “very good” personal relationship with a murderous dictator — he previously announced that the two were “in love — would be leading every news station in the country under any other president.
That tweet doesn’t read like someone is convinced of what he termed “total exoneration” just weeks ago. It reads of deeply nervous man trying to puff out his chest and have his attorney general rescue him.
After:
Trump is begging Democrats to change the laws, despite Senate Republicans currently sitting on their hands and trying to avoid the issue entirety. It also ignores that the GOP did nothing on the subject despite controlling both chambers of Congress and the presidency in 2017 and 2018.
Trump followed up that tirade with threatening to make a federal issue into a state one, trying to infringe on separation of powers and a litany of other issues. Everything in Trump’s arsenal is about trying to punish blue states and have Democrats bail him out of never-ending messes.
Trump’s proclaiming that California is poorly managed is particularly laughable considering the state enjoys a huge surplus due to Democratic leadership. Additionally, if California were a sovereign nation, it would have the fifth largest economy in the world.
If the past two-plus years are any indication, Trump will follow the same formula Sunday that he did on Saturday.
