Day 812: Trump says ‘I know nothing about WikiLeaks’ despite wailing ‘I love WikiLeaks’ nonstop in 2016

WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, was arrested after being holed up in an Ecuadorian embassy in London for seven years. He initially took refuge there to avoid being extradited to Sweden for a sexual assault case. Ecuador removed his haven of protection and ousted him on Thursday.

However, he now faces U.S. conspiracy charges related to leaked classified documents.

That leaves Donald Trump in a precarious situation. He proclaimed non-stop — at least 141 times in October 2016 alone — during the presidential campaign that he “loved WikiLeaks” and what they were doing as it related to publishing damaging information related to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

WikiLeaks — considered by many in the intelligence community to be a Russian tool — even communicated directly with members of Trump’s campaign staff, including son Donald, Jr.

Thursday, Trump seemed to get amnesia about his numerous statements and praises about WikiLeaks. When asked by a reporter if he still loved the organization, he responded, “I know nothing about WikiLeaks. It’s not my thing.”

Videos, tweets and transcripts don’t lie: WikiLeaks very much was Trump’s thing in 2016.

Many of Trump’s biggest fans would like to pretend that the WikiLeaks make-out fest never happened too.

In just two years, Fox News host Sean Hannity went from inviting Julian Assange to fill in for him on his radio show to scrubbing all references to the WikiLeaks founder from his Twitter.
