Day 811: Trump: I alone run DHS

The Department of Homeland Security has seen a rapid and unexpected purging in recent days. Since Sunday, Donald Trump has ousted his Homeland Security secretary, the acting Homeland Security deputy secretary, the Secret Service director, and pulled the nomination of the man set to lead ICE.

Even congressional Republicans were openly surprised about the sudden dearth of high-ranking officials at DHS.

Trump, facing questions about the reasons for the ousters, pushed back when asked about turmoil regarding immigration policy, DHS and Cabinet dysfunction.

He said he alone runs everything dealing with the department.
