Day 786: Trump takes random potshot at John McCain, who died seven months ago

Donald Trump’s ire toward John McCain doesn’t seem to have ceased, despite the fact that McCain died last August. During and after his campaign, he frequently berated McCain as a non-hero because he was captured in Vietnam, despite the fact that Trump himself dodged service in that war many times.

McCain rarely made his Trump rebukes personal, largely focusing on policy. However, just before McCain died, he informed his family that Trump was not welcome at his funeral.

It seems Trump has continued to hold a postmortem grudge toward McCain. Saturday he took a truly random potshot at McCain.

Trump could have ignored Ken Starr’s ridiculous — and false — statement. But not only did he highlight it, he wanted to point out for the umpteenth time that McCain voted against the bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with nothing.

That vote was nearly two years ago and McCain died seven months ago. Despite all of that, Trump doesn’t seem to be over the fact that Republicans put up a terrible bill that was ultimately voted down.

Maybe he thinks McCain will rise from the grave and change his vote. That’s about the only thing that makes sense about Trump continuing to insult McCain.
