Day 785: Trump takes 22 minutes between expressing sympathy for victims of New Zealand attack and begging for votes
Heinous mass shootings took place at two New Zealand mosques in the city of Christchurch on Friday. The assault left at least 49 people dead. Three people were arrested and numerous writings— purporting to be from one or more of the arrestees — surfaced, with numerous white supremacist references.
It was a tragic scene of terrorism and the aftershocks will be felt for a long time.
Donald Trump expressed his condolences in a nice sentiment.
However, any feeling of authenticity to the words was undone when he immediately moved on to begging for votes…
…and coming up with more conspiracy theories about — who else? — himself.
Soon thereafter he ranted and raved about the Robert Mueller investigation and things were officially back to “Trump Normal” in the White House.
Considering his frequent antagonistic rhetoric toward Muslims or his silence about previous terrorist attacks at mosques, it’s no surprise Trump’s thoughts about the victims at the New Zealand mosques ended up being as hollow.
