Day 772: Trump spews lies, gibberish for over two hours

Donald Trump spoke at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, on Saturday, in what ended up being the longest speech of his presidency at over two hours. The tone of CPAC has shifted substantially toward the alt-right over the past few years, and there’s a perception that Trump can do no wrong. He leaned into those ideas frequently.

His speech rarely adhered to talking points, going off in wildly different directions off script. Trump frequently lied, focused on some of his favorite past hits — inauguration crowd, anyone? — and did whatever it took to get people to clap.

He ranted and mocked his own political allies.

He bizarrely went on a lengthy tangent about generals he met that looked like they could appear in Hollywood films, including “Raisin” Caine.

He lied so, so much.

He wouldn’t let the crowd size debacle from over two years ago go.

He went on and on about his “stone cold killer” of a friend.

Overall, the entirety of the speech was just plain unhinged from reality. But he got people to cheer him and left, presumably, very proud of himself.
