Day 766: Trump’s latest big idea: fireworks for the 4th of July

Sit down.

Even though it’s February, Donald Trump has some big ideas for a holiday over four months away.

This is hilarious for so many reasons.

  • Saying “HOLD THE DATE!” on a holiday that is the exact same date every year is eyeroll-inducing.
  • Saying it will be “one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington D.C.” would come across better from someone who hasn’t already told whoppers about crowd sizes in Washington.
  • Saying that there will be “fireworks” and “entertainment” from the Lincoln Memorial isn’t exactly groundbreaking since people gather at the memorial to watch fireworks every year.
  • Saying “your favorite President [sic], me!” shows how truly thin-skinned and vain Trump remains after over two years on the job.

Instead of thinking about next week’s meeting with Kim Jong-un in Hanoi, or the crisis in Venezuela, or the issues in Syria, or the alleged national emergency on the southern border, Trump is thinking about fireworks 110 days from now
