Day 764: Cohen keeps singing to Mueller
For Donald Trump, the one person most capable of bringing down everything — his presidency and his businesses — is his longtime fixer and lawyer Michael Cohen. The thought of Cohen — who is already set to begin a prison sentence in May after pleading guilty to lying to Congress, breaking campaign finance laws and committing other financial crimes — continuing to cooperate with Robert Mueller’s investigators must be a terrifying prospect.
And Cohen just keeps dishing more dirt, this time about possible irregularities within the Trump Organization and about an inaugural committee donor, according to a story by The New York Times.
Mr. Cohen, who worked at the Trump Organization for a decade, spoke with the prosecutors about insurance claims the company had filed over the years, said the people, who did not elaborate on the nature of the possible irregularities.
Cohen seems intent on inflicting his pound of flesh on Trump, who has continued to savage Cohen (and his family) on TV and online after hanging him out to dry by pleading ignorance about many of Cohen’s actions. Cohen has already implicated Trump in conspiring to pay multiple women hush money in the run up to 2016 election, likely a violation of campaign finance law. Now Cohen is taking square aim at the Trump Organization.
Cohen has already alleged personal crimes, taking aim at the man. Now he’s alleging possible widespread financial crimes, taking aim at the man’s family business, which appear to be his pride and joy above all else.
And for all of that and more — even as many other individuals close to Trump have cooperated and are coopering with Mueller — Cohen continues to be the single most dangerous person to Trump.
