Day 754: Crowd size-obsessed Trump couldn’t keep his lies straight in El Paso

Attendance at Beto O’Rourke’s rally outpaced Trump’s rally.

Donald Trump spoke at a rally in El Paso, Texas on Monday evening. Former congressman and possible 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke — who represented the area in Congress — held a rally a few miles away.

Trump tried to compare the two rallies, which, in a vacuum, is pretty pathetic. O’Rourke is no longer in Congress, and while he galvanized Texas and much of the nation in his run against Ted Cruz for Senate in 2018, Trump punching down so far shows how much he was irked by O’Rourke’s presence.

In fact, Trump was so perturbed, that he noted the size of each rally numerous times. However, it appeared that he was pulling the numbers out of thin air because they changed so often and were so incorrect.

On his own rally, the numbers vacillated by tens of thousands.

The local fire department later confirmed Trump lied.

Trump claimed that only “200 people, 300 people” showed up at O’Rourke’s rally.

Another obvious lie. The real numbers were in the five figures and eclipsed attendance at Trump’s event.

Maybe Trump wasn’t punching down after all.
