Day 74: Donald Trump Ventures Farther Off the Deep End

Four early morning tweets show just how unhinged Trump has become.

Donald Trump took to Twitter this morning to start his eleventh work week as President of the United States.

Starting at 6:15 a.m., the Tweetstorm touched on a lot of topics, none particularly sane. Trump is seemingly unaware that such rhetoric not only contributes to the perception that he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but harms the way the U.S. is perceived internationally.

Why it’s crazy: Because it attempts to legitimize the idea that Trump was spied on by the Obama administration despite any proof and in the face of sworn testimony of the FBI and NSA directors denying that such actions took place.

Why it’s crazy: Because it relies on Fox & Friends, a show that is more right-wing entertainment than in-depth investigation.

Why it’s crazy: Because this is exactly what the allegations are against Trump himself. Trump couldn’t possibly be projecting more if he tried. People believe that Trump has multiple conflicts of interest related, at the very least, to his business dealings in Russia. Trump and his sons have bragged on numerous occasions regarding the many business dealings and interests they have in the Eastern European nation. There has been speculation related to the underlying reasons for Trump’s desire to reduce or eliminate Russian sanctions for quite some time. Furthermore, only one person is known to have had members of his team speaking to Russia about lifting sanctions. The paramount question currently surrounding disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his meeting with the Russians is: “Did Donald know?”

Why it’s crazy: Because John Podesta or Hillary Clinton are politically irrelevant at the moment. This is the definition of a red herring as it has nothing to with anything.

Why it’s crazy: Because, again, this has nothing to do with current affairs. Trump is referring to a Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders debate from 12 months ago where Clinton allegedly improperly received a few questions ahead of time. Had she apologized, would Trump be able to sleep better at night?

Why it’s crazy: Because there are no patterns to these tweets at all. Five minutes after Russian-sanction allegations there are “just asking” questions related to a Democratic party debate.

Why it’s crazy: Because we’re back to unfounded allegations of Obama-led spying over two and a half hours after the initial tweet.

Why it’s crazy: Because he threw the FBI’s handle on the end of the tweet as if (1) they are unaware of certain “facts” and should look into these reports, and (2) they wouldn’t see this tweet otherwise.

Why it’s crazy: Because Trump has previously said he doesn’t believe unnamed sources, which Fox News cites.

The president spouting off a random array of unrelated things and conspiracy theories in the early Monday morning hours isn’t normal.

It’s crazy.
