Day 739: Panderer-in-chief

Donald Trump’s base is shrinking to the point he has the lowest approval rating of any president on record after two years in office.

Desperate to keep the core constituency in place, Trump has been pandering more than usual lately. Monday, that trend continued, as he had no public events on his calendar, save for lunch with Mike Pence.

He pandered to evangelicals:

He pandered to the fossil fuel lobby, as well as general climate deniers:

He pandered to the “Democrats are liars” crowd (while being a lying hypocrite himself):

Rather than trying to expand his base over the past two years, Trump has been doing everything he can to hold on to groups that will likely never leave him anyway.
