Day 737: Trump’s approval ratings took a serious hit during the shutdown
They sank to their lowest level in nearly a year.
Donald Trump — a man uniquely obsessed with polls — suffered one of his sharpest declines in job approval ratings during his self-induced government shutdown.
According to FiveThirtyEight, with a current average spread of 39.3 percent approve/56.0 approve, Trump’s approval rating is his lowest in nearly a year. When the shutdown began on December 22, his net approval rating averaged a -10.6 percent. Five weeks later and his net approval rating sank to -16.7 percent, getting worse almost every single day.
Trump spent Saturday trying to spin the Roger Stone indictment news and shutdown reviews.
But try as he might, Trump’s poll numbers show fewer and fewer American people are buying his shtick and he’s taking the brunt of the blame of the shutdown.
