Day 726: Trump’s approval numbers are tanking, even in conservative-leaning polls

Donald Trump’s approval rating has never truly approached 50 percent, despite the frequency that he handpicks polls that show him at or close to that figure. Additionally, his polling has lagged behind virtually every single president over the past 75 years. In short, he’s historically unpopular.

When he feels the need to show an iota of positive news, Trump generally touts Rasmussen Reports, who skew conservative and were among the least accurate major pollsters for the 2018 midterms.

But amidst the Trump-engineered government shutdown, even Rasmussen is showing Trump’s poll numbers tanking: just 43 percent approve Trump’s job performance while 55 percent disapprove. An average of major polls shows Trump’s numbers are even worse than that.

But Trump is never one to let get facts in the way of narrative. He is desperately trying to spin, spin, spin as the shutdown is in the middle of its fourth week.

When even Rasmussen is showing Trump trending in the wrong direction, however, things are getting dire.
