Day 697: Trump bails farmers out again while bragging about the economy

Donald Trump consistently talks out of both sides of his mouth. That was apparent yet again Monday, when tweeting about yet another bailout for America’s farmers resulting from Trump’s disastrous trade war with China.

Farmers are doing what they love and have nowhere to sell crops and are seeing the product of their hard work rot away. So the government is stepping in and giving them a fraction from the federal government what they could get getting from China but for the trade war.

The money is coming from taxpayers at a time when the federal deficit continues to rise. Since China continues to buy more U.S. debt, Trump is hurting U.S. interests when it comes to China in multiple ways from a single trade war.

Trump couched the bailout as a “market facilitation payment” but it’s really just a payoff for wasted crops. Ironically, Trump falsely claimed a sentence later that despite the bailout — as well as the yearlong swoon of equities markets — the U.S. economy is “stronger than ever.”
