Day 630: There’s a Trump tweet for everything: campaigning, musician, national disaster edition
The phenomenon that “there’s a Donald Trump tweet for every occasion” is jarring in just how often it’s on the nose. The way it works is simple: in the past weeks, months or years, Trump criticized someone else only to now find himself in the same spot, taking the same action he previously lambasted.
For instance, Trump penned this missive six years ago.
This week, Trump is actively campaigning (check one), and having famous musicians dine with him in photo-ops (check two), while a national disaster is on-going (check three).
- Trump was in Pennsylvania Wednesday, campaigning for numerous officials. He was in Nebraska and Iowa the day before with the same goal. He has more rallies currently planned in the near future.
- Thursday, he carved out time for an Oval Office photo-op followed by lunch with musicians Kanye West and Kid Rock, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown.
- All the while, a powerful Category 4 storm, Hurricane Michael, was bearing down and making landfall throughout the Southeast. People died, towns were flattened and people’s lives were forever changed.
Trump did nearly the exact same thing he criticized Barack Obama for, only it was worse because Trump did it as the dangerous hurricane was hitting. He was smiling for cameras and glad-handing and railing against Democrats while a national disaster was underway causing death and billions of dollars of damage.
There truly is a tweet for everything.
