Day 620: Trump to female reporter: you never think
He quickly backed down when called out on the remark by the reporter.
Donald Trump, with veritable frat pack behind him, hammed it up at the expense of Cecilia Vega, a reporter with ABC News, who had just thanked him for choosing her to ask a question at a press conference. Ironically believing Vega said “think” instead of “thank,” Trump responded, “I know you’re not thinking. You never do.”
When called out on the insulting remark by Vega, Trump backed down and said “No, go ahead,” prompting a question.
Turns out, he didn’t like that either as Vega asked Trump a question about the investigation of the boorish behavior into another man, his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and he refused to answer the question. (Topics on pertinent news topics are virtually always fair game at press events like these, regardless of what the speech is about, especially for someone like Trump who so infrequently makes himself available to otherwise discuss such matters.)
Trump routinely treats women and minorities with open disdain and disrespect, especially if they aren’t sycophantic to him or his causes. He enjoys resorting to name-calling and insults. Monday was no exception as Trump tried to publicly embarrass a reporter merely for asking a question.
