Day -50: Trump Bribes Billion Dollar Company to Keep Less than Half of Jobs in U.S.

President-elect Donald Trump touted Carrier’s (a United Technology company) decision to keep approximately 1,100 jobs in the United States as a win for the workers and the economy (and, of course, himself). The other 1,300 jobs from the Indiana-based company will still be going to Mexico as planned.

Still sounds decent, right?

Nope.

Trump had to promise substantial tax breaks to keep the company that profits over $7 billion annually from outsourcing all of their jobs.

All that threatening huge exit taxes for companies who moved jobs out of the country? More like big tax brib…err breaks to get them to stay.

Congratulations, fellow American. You pay your fair share of taxes while a billion dollar behemoth gets a monster tax break.

Setting aside that the PEOTUS has way more important things to do at the moment than negotiate for days on a relatively small deal like this, “the great negotiator” was played like a Stradivarius.

How long until another company or a dozen try this?

Company: “WE’RE LEAVING TO MEXICO!”

Trump: Wait, what if I give you yoooge tax breaks?

Company: Okay, some of the jobs will stay.

Win-win for the company. They cut labor costs while also, inexplicably, getting a tax break.

1,100 jobs sounds like a win.

It is for those 1,100 people.

It is for Trump’s propaganda machine.

It really is for every large corporation licking their chops about the games they’re going to play with this administration.

But wow, what a total loss and slap in the face for the rest of the country and the common man.
