Day 5: Doctors Amazed at Coward Marco Rubio’s Ability to Stand Up Despite Missing Spine
The invertebrate Senator voted Monday to confirm Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson
During ExxonMobil CEO/Secretary of State-nominee Rex Tillerson’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Hearing, things got testy, even before some GOP Senators.
As the New York Times wrote at the time:
[Sen. Marco Rubio] checked off the grievous offenses of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia with prosecutorial zeal, pressing Mr. Tillerson to brand Mr. Putin a war criminal and acknowledge the mysterious deaths of his political opponents.
When Mr. Tillerson equivocated, saying he hoped to learn more once he could receive classified information, Mr. Rubio’s retort was the stuff of a thousand cable news replays.
“None of this is classified, Mr. Tillerson,” the senator said flatly. “These people are dead.”
Rubio showed open disdain in a way senators rarely do for any nominee, much less one their own party’s president has nominated.
The Times reported that Rubio’s reasons to run for reelection “stemmed in no small part from a desire to act as a foreign policy check on either Mr. Trump or Hillary Clinton.” What better opportunity could present itself than a pro-Russia/pro-Putin, inexperienced businessman with numerous conflicts of interest to act as that check?
On Monday, we learned that Rubio is the same spineless, sniveling coward of a man-boy he always has been, as he voted to approve Tillerson’s confirmation. (Let’s not forget the neutered-by-Trump, allegedly-tough-on- Russia, GOP Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain, also members of the committee who voted to approve Tillerson.)
Why did Rubio vote to confirm Tillerson?
On Facebook, he balanced one generally positive paragraph about Tillerson’s patriotism in favor of three extremely specific, negative paragraphs. He confusingly stated that the future of foreign policy means the Secretary of State must be vetted extremely carefully, but later proclaimed, “Given the uncertainty that exists both at home and abroad about the direction of our foreign policy, it would be against our national interests to have this confirmation unnecessarily delayed or embroiled in controversy.”
In other words, let’s try and vet them fully, but it’s more important we just confirm whoever Trump nominated as quickly as possible.
The comments beneath Rubio’s Facebook post were overwhelmingly critical of Rubio’s decision. A large swath appeared to be from Rubio’s constituents.
But does he even care what his constituents think?
Because, as the Washington Post reported, the real reason for Little Marco’s vote to confirm was politics as usual: the Florida Senator was swayed by donors from Texas and the threat of private backlash from Trump. So much for representation, huh Florida?
Rubio huffed and puffed and appeared ready, willing and able to stand up to Trump, at least on the Russian front.
Turns out Marco the Invertebrate just chooses to align with red — GOP and Russia — whenever Daddy Trump and the money come calling.
