Day 491: Poll: Trump Sets Dubious (Lack of) Ethics Record

According to a new Gallup poll, just 37 percent of Americans think Donald Trump’s ethics are “excellent or good.” A whopping 59 percent find his ethics to be “not good or poor.”

The ethics question has been posed during every presidency since Ronald Reagan; Trump’s is the lowest ever measured.

Gallup noted that while there tends to be a correlation between job approval and ethics ratings, the latter is almost always higher than the former. Trump’s lower ethics rating indicates that even many people who approve of Trump’s job performance find him to be unethical.

The results of the poll aren’t a particular surprise. Trump has surrounded himself with others who seem to lack any ethical standards. Many in his Cabinet fleece taxpayers at every opportunity and his family — despite some having White House jobs — continues to enrich their personal fortune using Trump’s influence across the world. All the while, he lines his own pockets.
