Day 408: Trump Visits Golf Property for 100th Time
Donald Trump visited — where else? — one of his golf properties on Saturday. It’s his 100th trip to one of his golf courses in a mere 408 days as president.
Trump, once a critic of presidential golfing, has ignored his own advice and made a habit of visiting some of the many golf courses emblazoned in his moniker. The habit is part of the broader trend of the President and first lady making frequent trips to properties owned and operated by the Trump Organization.
Trump has spent 36 days at his Florida club and 40 days at his New Jersey course and made the short trip from the White House to his Virginia club 23 times. He golfed once at his Jupiter course with professional golfers Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Brad Faxon.
Trump previously blasted Barack Obama and other past leaders for their time on the links. Thus, the White House frequently refuses to confirm how often Trump plays when he visits the clubs, but a number of pieces of evidence show it’s often. Whether he’s spotted by someone else on the course, seen by a member of the press, is dressed for golf, or a later admission by him or his team, it’s obvious Trump is playing far more often than not when he makes visits to his clubs.
He famously promised to eschew playing golf in favor of staying in the White House to work. It hasn’t exactly worked out like that, as Trump is playing golf more than twice as often as Obama and is frequently visiting South Florida to do it.
