Day 397: Americans Blaming Trump, Congress for Mass Shootings

In the wake of yet another school shooting, infamous buck-passer Donald Trump has shamefully tried to blame Barack Obama, the FBI and, sadly, even the victims for the shooter’s actions.

A new Washington Post/ABC News poll found that Americans disagree: they’re blaming Trump and Congress.

Of those polled, 62 percent said Trump is not doing enough to prevent mass shootings in the U.S., and 77 percent said the same of Congress.

On top of that, half would support a nationwide assault weapons ban and 58 percent believe that stricter laws could have prevented the shooting.

The nation is asking for some sort of action by Congress. However, they shouldn’t hold their breath. The Las Vegas mass shooting was over four and a half months ago, and bump stocks — a device the shooter used to modify his weapon to shoot with automatic-like fire and hit over 500 people in 10 minutes — remain perfectly legal at the federal level.

As for Trump, he’s digging his heels in too, as he gets his ear bent by his sons, Frick and Frack.

According to three sources with knowledge of their conversations, the president and Trump Jr. repeatedly discussed gun control over the long Presidents’ Day weekend, often as they both closely watched a TV airing footage in real-time of young Parkland students savaging the president for his inaction.

When polled on his opinions on the matter, the first son emphatically replied that the president must not waver on his pro-gun stance, whatever the impassioned calls for reform. Trump Jr., according to these sources, reminded his father that inching toward gun control would be immediately taken by his conservative base — as well as major donors and motivated activist networks, including the National Rifle Association — as an unforgivable betrayal.

Eric Trump, his middle son, readily agreed.

Seventeen people die in a shooting — most of whom were children — and Trump is listening to his sons, who are predominately worried about the politics of his daddy’s decisions.

Maybe they should realize Americans are blaming him.
