Day 337: Trump Will Profit Over $1 Million Just From Vacations to Mar-a-Lago in 2017
In under a year in office, Donald Trump has already spent 34 days at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, Florida. On Friday, he’ll add to that tally, as he heads south through the end of the year.
By the time 2017 comes to a close, Trump will have spent 44 out of 346 days at the club, or nearly 13 percent of his days in office, in a private resort thousands of miles from the White House. All while profiting. Our math put Trump’s average profit just from Secret Service staying at the property while he’s there at approximately $13,400 per day.
Trump’s latest vacation will push the tally to nearly $600,000 in profits from Secret Service room costs. Add in other profit centers, such as numerous aides staying at the property, food and drink, meeting room rentals, golf cart rentals and other various expenditures — most of which have margins through the roof — and Trump is easily clearing $1 million in profit for the year solely by visiting Mar-a-Lago.
This figure fails to take into account things like intangible benefits, such as added exposure for the property. It also doesn’t include profits related to his visits to his other properties, including his dozens of nights spent at his eponymous golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, or how he profits when his children travel.
Donald Trump, the profiteering president.
