Day 325: Trump Has Spent Over 10 Percent of His Time in Office at Mar-a-Lago
He also personally profits from his many trips.
Donald Trump is in South Florida yet again this weekend, staying at his private golf club, Mar-a-Lago, for the ninth time in just 11 months. Sunday marks Trump’s 34th day at the club. Trump — who famously vowed during his campaign to never take a vacation —has now been in Palm Beach, some 850 miles from the White House, for over 10 percent of his time in office.
More broadly, Trump has managed to visit one of his golf clubs every three days.
It’s worth remembering that every time Trump travels to Mar-a-Lago, he personally profits tens of thousands of dollars per day. Our math put the total figure at a staggering $335,000 solely from Secret Service staying at the property while Trump is also there. (This is in addition to aides staying at the property, food and drink, golf cart rentals, meeting room rentals and Secret Service staying at the property before Trump arrives or after he leaves.)
With pressing issues popping up every day, Trump seems to spend an inordinate amount of time watching television, tweeting, playing golf and generally being anywhere but inside the White House.
