Day 287: Trump’s Chosen Name for Tax Reform Bill: ‘The Cut Cut Cut Act’

Name aside, the bill overwhelmingly favors the wealthy.

In a story that doesn’t seem like it can be real, Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Donald Trump entered into a tax reform alliance: Ryan got oversight on the GOP House bill’s language, but Trump got to name it.

So Trump, like a six-year-old who the family lets name the new dog, chose “The Cut Cut Cut Act.”

And, like the family who watches in horror as that first grader chooses Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as the dog’s name, the Republicans quickly stripped Trump of his ability to name the bill.

Republicans were wary of Trump’s name not only because it sounded absurd, but because it’s expected to raise taxes on a chunk of American taxpayers.

The tax plan does nothing to benefit the lower third of earners in the the U.S. according to the former chief tax counsel for the Senate Finance Committee, Lily Batchelder.

Also harmed by the new bill, middle class homeowners could see drops as important deductions that incentive homeownership have been eliminated too.

Meanwhile, the wealthiest Americans get the vast majority of the tax cuts and benefits under the GOP House plan. Republicans not only know this, but have openly admitted it.
