Day 255: Trump Blames Everyone But Himself for Hurricane Response Debacle

Hurricane Maria decimated Puerto Rico about two weeks ago, putting millions of American citizens in a dire situation: food and water were limited, the electrical grid was down for almost the entire island, roads were filled with debris and homes were flattened.

Amidst a deluge of negative press about a substandard and inaccurate response from his administration, Donald Trump is lashing out.

Wow. Just wow.

In case you lost track, Trump tried blaming the media and Democrats for his missteps. Even worse, he blasted the San Juan mayor for complaining about the lack of assistance and alleged that she wants everything done for her. This is mayor on the ground, surrounded by people is desperate need for help, who has had to beg on television for the federal government to send more aid due to the Trump team doing close to nothing for a week. Here she is in waist deep water.

Trump is upset at her gall to talk about these issues while he sat on his hands while American citizens suffered.

Despite hundreds of insanely stupid tweets in his life, Trump asking Puerto Ricans to not believe the #FakeNews might be the dumbest. For one, most of the island does not have power, so they can’t even see this lie. But on top of that, Puerto Ricans are on the ground; they know what’s going on. Trump can’t lie to them and say “everything’s great” when they’re experiencing the fact that things are very far from great. Trump can lie to his base in Oklahoma or Indiana that things are hunky-dory in Puerto Rico, but the people being affected by this crisis every single day will never believe that.

A half dozen tweets blaming the media, more blaming the Democrats and elected officials in Puerto Rico: apparently, it’s everyone’s fault but Trump.
