Day -25: The Calm Before Another Storm

We’re just 25 days from Donald Trump’s inauguration. Most of his cabinet members and key advisers have been tapped. The world has gotten to see more Twitter rants, propaganda and cronyism. Nuclear threats. Provoking China. Backing off campaign promises. Refilling the swamp. Cozying up to Putin. Defending eschewing of briefings.

But the last few days have been relatively calm.

This won’t last. A new storm is brewing.

Trump still has an absurd amount of work to do before Inauguration Day, and the man has spent and wasted much of his time promoting and attending “thank you tours” rather than getting ready.

Remember in school when a test was a week away? You would maybe study some, but the last few days, hours or even minutes were totally frenetic. Stress built and built as the deadline approached.

The scrutiny on Trump will only get bigger. The lights brighter. The press louder. The public more focused.

We’ve seen this happen with him before. Before the primaries, Trump said crazy things. By the time they were in full force, the man was totally unhinged.

Between the brief period of time between the primaries and general election stumping, he toned down his rhetoric a bit. The stress was off. By the time it was Trump vs. Clinton, the man was screaming deranged conspiracy theories, flip-flopped on a dozen more issues and became even more insane.

This is a man who does not deal well with intense scrutiny or pressure. Watch him squirm as he gives sworn deposition testimony, his deer-in-the-headlights meeting with Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieta last year (where he chickened out of demanding Mexico pay for a border wall) or any difficult public interview.

Trump wilts like a flower left in a Buick in August.

Eventually, he reverts to kicking and screaming. Saying crazy things. Doing anything to distract from the incoming failing grade on his exam.

We’ve seen his unhinged reactions to quizzes, tests and even midterm exams. But it’s time for final exams, which means only one thing.

Hurricane Trump is coming very soon.
