Day 247: Athletes Trigger Trump
Donald Trump went on a bizarre rant last night in Alabama while supporting senate candidate Luther Strange. Apropos of nothing, Trump indicated that the concern of chronic brain injuries was ruining the product on the field for the NFL and that players kneeling during the national anthem should spur stadium-wide walk-outs.
Yup, he’s asking the NFL to make a violent game more dangerous and asking Americans to walk out of a game they spent hundreds of dollars to attend because some men quietly took a knee during the national anthem.
Then, he asked owners to remove players from the field who do not comport with Trump’s opinion of appropriate behavior.
Like in North Korea, where Trump’s rhetoric toward Kim Jong-un is likely to cause more nuclear tests and demonstrations, Trump’s words on the NFL are likely to trigger league-wide protests and demonstrations. Hmm, it’s almost like he’s trying to make the social and racial divide worse for political gain.
In the NBA, the defending champion Golden State Warriors were privately discussing whether they would accept the traditional invitation to the White House, though most people close to the team felt they would ultimately decline. Two-time MVP Steph Curry said he would vote against attending.
Knowing he was about to be officially and embarrassingly dumped first, Trump tried to rescind the invitation to the Warriors and Curry .
Not fooling anyone, snowflake.
