Day 245: Donald Trump Invents African Nation in Speech to United Nations
In front of African leaders at the United Nations, Donald Trump had yet another gaffe.
Perhaps he met Namibia or The Gambia, both of which are actual countries.
This isn’t about a mere misspoken word or slip of the tongue, it’s about the leader of the nation literally not knowing what he’s reading. Trump is clearly being fed speeches by his team and has no idea what he’s reading or why. As he presents them to whatever audience he’s appearing before, it’s apparent he’s never even glanced at the speech beforehand.
He’s basically a real life Ron Burgundy.
Does anyone — even the most ardent Trump supporter — think Trump has any idea about the African Ebola outbreak or West Africa’s efforts to eradicate it? It’s not like he’s ever had any real understanding for how the disease works.
Maybe Trump thought all the American troops were being sent to Nambia and was confused when he no one printed news reports for him detailing their return home?
Regardless, it’s embarrassing to the United States that Trump is incapable of delivering a simple speech to foreign leaders without butchering the names of countries or even realizing a mistake was made.
