Day 228: Trump Blames Media For Not Doing Coast Guard’s Job

Never one to miss an opportunity to jab the media, Donald Trump told a group of Coast Guardsmen that he was proud of them for doing excellent work, and that they did work the media would never do.

So the media wouldn’t ordinarily go into very strong winds to rescue people?

  1. They aren’t trained for that. The local butcher isn’t flying commercial airplanes and the car salesman isn’t designing the newest buildings for a city.
  2. The media did an incredible job covering Hurricane Harvey, shedding light on the conditions, helping raise money for recovery, and in many cases, rescuing people who needed urgent assistance.
  3. Trump is a draft dodger, who claimed bone spurs in his heels — an affliction for which he apparently never suffered any other issues — caused him to avoid military service in Vietnam. To blame others for not being brave enough to serve in a military branch is hypocritical at best.

Trump’s automatic, self-classically conditioned response to attack the media whenever he thinks about them or sees them is unbecoming. To disparage them for not doing the job of a military branch in the wake of a national disaster when they’ve performed incredibly well is just pathetic.
