Day 205: Donald Trump Has No Idea What He’s Doing Militarily
For years, Donald Trump decried the Barack Obama administration for telling everyone what they were going to do and how, militarily.
While Trump greatly overstates what Obama was doing, there were times that announcements were made in advance to warn civilians in an effort to limit casualties.
What Trump is doing now is not only hypocritical, it’s worse since it’s just an attempt to flex muscle:
Unsurprisingly, many in the Pacific are increasingly concerned about a conflict that is moving closer to happening. North Korea has already threatened to bomb Guam, where the U.S. has two military bases.
So, Trump called Guam’s governor about the North Korea crisis.
The White House characterized the call as follows:
But Trump’s actual words say something very different: there’s a substantial focus that the island territory would see more tourism as a result of being threatened with annihilation.
Trump actually said the words, “I congratulate you” regarding potential tourism revenue generated as a result of publicity from bomb threats from crazy dictator. Not only is this despicable, but it’s also delusional: who’s visiting a country that is in the crosshairs of the North Koreans?
Finally, Trump threatened to invade…Venezuela? Watch UN Ambassador Nikki Haley’s face when Trump reveals his master plan to potentially invade the South American nation.
Trump’s reckless rhetoric not only doesn’t help diplomacy, it has the potential to turn the rest of South America against the U.S.
And virtually nobody is getting near his statements with a ten-foot pole, including the Pentagon.
It turns out that Donald Trump has no idea what he’s doing — and doesn’t care to learn — in yet another crucial facet of his responsibilities. He just spouts random statements at random times with zero consideration of the consequences.
