Day 201: Donald Trump Just Wants to Take His Ball and Play With His Friends
When stuck inside, he struggles to find productive ways to occupy his time.
It seems inconceivable, but so much of the stability of the news cycle — at least as it relates to Donald Trump — is tied to the weather.
All he wants to do on his vacations — despite constant proclamations that he’s working diligently — is get out of the house and play some golf. Not that complicated, right?
Well, when Mother Nature has other plans and dumps rain on Bedminster, New Jersey, where Trump will spend 17 days this summer, Trump has no choice but to stay inside, watch television, get angry and tweet. Take yesterday for example.
Step 1: Bad weather in the area.
Step 2: Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) appears on CNN to discuss, among other topics, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigatory and prosecutorial authority.
Step 3: Trump lashes out like a petulant child.
Remember, Trump has claimed many, many times that he no longer watches CNN.
Good news today, though. The forecast for Bedminster shows little chance of rain over the next day or two.
Perhaps Trump can expend some of that excess energy of his by whacking around a ball with his pals for a few hours. It’s summer after all. Non-stop playing with friends is what kids like him do. Dinner should be ready by the time Slugger gets home.
Though he couldn’t rein Trump in yesterday, perhaps new Chief of Staff John Kelly should ensure the rule that there is no computer time if the chores don’t get done is followed.
