Day 195: Boy Scouts and Mexican President: Trump Lied, We Never Called to Praise Him

In an odd pairing, both the Boy Scouts of America and Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto publicly rebuked Donald Trump’s assertions that he spoke to each of them over the phone. Unsurprisingly, Trump’s self-serving proclamations alleged that both the Scouts and Peña Nieto called specifically to praise him.

Trump also proclaimed:

“As you know, the border was a tremendous problem and they’re close to 80 percent stoppage. And even the president of Mexico called me — they said their southern border, very few people are coming because they know they’re not going to get through our border, which is the ultimate compliment.”

Peña Nieto denies that ever happened, releasing a statement that said he “has not recently spoken to President Donald Trump over the telephone.”

Either leadership for the Boy Scouts of America and the president of Mexico have both totally forgotten about phone calls to the White House or a 71-year old with a penchant for lying is doing it again.
