Day 19: Republican Snowflakes Triggered Over Beer Advertisement

During the Super Bowl, Budweiser ran a stunningly shot advertisement centered around the meeting of Eberhard Anheuser and Adolphus Busch, the namesakes of the Anheuser-Busch brand.

The commercial centers on Busch’s difficult journey from Germany to St. Louis. It must have taken months to write, shoot and produce. It was published online in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.

You may have heard that Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at refugees from certain countries.

While Budweiser, of course, said they were not intending to make a political statement, many on the right are claiming that the ad — again, produced over many months — is an intentional provocation at Trump’s recent executive order.

Twitter has been abuzz with a hilariously misspelled #boycottbudwiser hashtag. Some users are saying the commercial is liberal propaganda, while other were just racist.

You may recall that beautifully-oxidized symbol of freedom and democracy sitting on Ellis Island. The Statute of Liberty was one of the first things that immigrants entering the nation saw upon their arrival. It represented hope for a new and better life.

A segment of the conservative part of the United States — a country founded by and morphed by many of those very immigrants — is offended by the telling of one immigrant’s journey in a beer commercial.

What a bunch of triggered snowflakes.
