Day 177: Donald Trump Pulls a Larry David in Paris

Awkwardness piled upon aloofness underscores Trump’s Bastille Day visit.

Donald Trump traveled to Paris to celebrate Bastille Day with French president Emmanuel Macron. Trump reminded the world that, “France is America’s first and oldest ally. A lot of people don’t know that.” Actually, everyone who manages to see the inside of a fourth-grade classroom knows that.

The entire visit — like virtually all of Trump’s visits abroad — had a very Curb Your Enthusiasm-esque feel.

In case you were wondering (or the awkwardness caused you to cut the clip short), the handshake was 28 seconds.
