Day 106: The 217 Republicans Whose Names We Sear Into Memory

Yesterday, House Republicans voted to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act with the American Health Care Act. Now it’ll go to the Senate for approval, rejection or amendment.

What the AHCA does for healthcare — besides gutting Medicaid, eliminating life time caps and letting states choose whether their insurers have to provide insurance for those with preexisting conditions — is really anyone’s guess.

This bill isn’t just one that people can just disagree on; it’s stripping protections from the poor to give a tax break for the rich. It will cost Americans their lives. It will cost others any semblance of financial security.

It’s inherently evil.

It follows the intentional stripping of key parts of the ACA — a popular law, by the way — by Republicans to try to get it to fail.

217 Republicans voted for the abomination that is AHCA and celebrated with Bud Lights and a party on the White House grounds with Donald Trump. (Of course, they’re also exempting themselves from the nasty parts of the bill.)

14 Republicans in districts won by Hillary Clinton voted for AHCA (McSally, Denham, Valadao, Knight, Royce, Walters, Rohrabacher, Issa, Curbelo, Roskam, Yoder, Paulsen, Culberson, Sessions) and 0 California Republicans voted against AHCA. 0 Democrats supported the bill.

Below are all of the Republicans’ names and districts who supported this bill. Let them know how disappointed and angry you are. Call, tweet, rally. Shame them. Heed the words of the Democrats chanting at them immediately after the vote: na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye.

Oust them all in 2018.
